JLE Group is seeking an experienced Generator Service Manager to lead our generator service operations within the Manufacturing & Hire division. Based in Newcastle, this role offers the opportunity to drive service excellence across field and workshop operations for major projects.
About the role
This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for generator servicing, maintenance, and repair operations, ensuring high-quality delivery, safety compliance, operational efficiency, and strong client relationships.
Key responsibilities include:
- Oversee day-to-day generator servicing, breakdowns, and maintenance activities across field and workshop operations.
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate field technicians, resources, and service jobs to meet client SLAs.
- Manage workshop and field service coordination for timely completion.
- Lead, mentor, and develop service technicians and apprentices, including training in generator systems and diagnostics.
- Act as primary point of contact for key clients and support securing service contracts.
- Manage service budgets, costs, profitability.
- Support quoting, tenders, and pricing.
- Ensure compliance with WHS regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
- Maintain service records, asset registers, compliance documentation, and inventory levels (parts, tools).

What you'll bring
Essential:
- Strong background in diesel generators, electrical, or mechanical services.
- Proven experience in service management or supervisory roles.
- Financial acumen (budgets, cost control, quoting).
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent client communication and stakeholder management.
- Knowledge of WHS and compliance requirements.
- Trade qualification (Electrical, Diesel Mechanic, or Mechanical).
Desirable:
- Advanced management skills in planning, organising, and evaluation.
- Understanding of relevant Standards and Codes of Practice.
- Contract training (GC21/AS4000).
- OH&S training.
- 7â12 years' trade experience.
